Longing
Resist #2
by Lilly Avalon
Publication Date: January 27, 2015
Genre: Erotica Romance
Synopsis
It's been two months since Allegra walked out of Devlin's hotel room. Well, two months and five days, but she's not counting. She needs to move on, but before she can, Devlin shows up again...as her new coworker.
Seeing him at work every day is enough to make her lose her mind. Allegra tries to stay away from Devlin, knowing the effect he has on her, but she can't. The more she's around him, the more she's tempted to have something more with him. After everything that's happened in the past, it's a slippery slope that may land her in a place she never wants to revisit. Something is happening to her heart, though. A longing is building up that isn't one-sided...and doesn't feel temporary.
He wants her. She wants a forever. Is it possible to have it all?
*Longing is a full-length erotica novel, and the sequel to Resist*

I expect him to leave, but he continues standing in front of me. That panty-dropping cologne enters my nostrils again and I can't move. “Um, I need to...work...stuff.”
“I don't want to walk away just yet.”
What does he mean by that? My breath catches in my throat. “What are we doing?” I whisper.
He tilts his head. “Whatever you want.” His fingers graze across the edge of my jaw.
Focus, Allegra. “I...uh...” I heave a heavy sigh. “Look—we had a great night together. But that's all it was—it's what we agreed to.” A one-night stand is a one-night stand for a reason. This reason right in front of me.
“I promised you one night of passion. I didn't promise that it would be the last.”
“I never said I wanted more than that.”
He comes closer, our breaths now mingling. “Your reaction to me begs to differ.”
His lips quirk into a smile and he whispers into my ear, “I think that's the definition of want, princess.”
This is bad. He's twisting up my insides in several different ways. It's okay to let go once, but not twice. He's not the one. I can't give in to the temptation again without the threat of opening what I call the vault—my Pandora's Box of heartbreak. I can't think about the fact that I want to run my fingers through his soft brown hair, pulling him down closer to my face as he...
I push him away with one palm flat on his chest. He willingly steps back. “I have to get to work,” I tell him, straightening up.
“Very well. As you were.” He gives me one final glance, and then walks off.
Well, I know now that he's still interested. What I don't know is if I'm the reason he came here. It's only a matter of time before he reveals the truth to me. I just have to hope I can keep it in my pants in the meantime.
Meet the Author
Lilly Avalon is the author of the erotic romances Here All Along and Resist, and the upcoming novella More Than Words.
She's somewhere in the midst of her twenties and lives mostly in the stories in her head. When she's not enveloped in the worlds she creates, she's out in the real world making stories happen. That or reading other romances. It's a toss-up.

Tell us your latest news?
I'm working on a new adult novel titled Unexpected. It's my first attempt at NA, and it's slightly different than my usual writing, so it's a very fun learning experience.
When and why did you begin writing?
I've been writing for years so it's hard to pinpoint exactly when. I think the “why” of it is because it's something I had to do. I have an active imagination and I love to read, so my mind always wanders and wants to tell stories.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Always, but even more so in the last few years when I started to devote time to actual story writing. Once you start actually telling stories in more than just a summary, you really begin to feel like a writer.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I liked the idea of a story featuring two friends who become roommates and then something more, so I sat down and started plotting. Pretty soon, Here All Along was born. It was just a short story, but I knew it had to be told.
Do you have a specific writing style?
Not particularly. I try to write my stories in order, but I have the tendency for spontaneous inspiration and end up writing one or two scenes that I haven't reached yet. I go with whatever is working so that I can keep the story alive.
How did you come up with the title?
Longing came out of a brainstorm when I was coming up with the title for Resist, the first book in the series. I was actually considering flipping the titles, then changed my mind and made Resist book #1 and Longing book #2. It ended up fitting better when I wrote the sequel.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Learning to trust. It's definitely difficult to do when you've been burned in the past, but it's hard to move forward in life if you aren't willing to take the chance on people. Not everyone is a liar or a heartbreaker and if we just believe the worst of people before getting to know them, we're ultimately hurting ourselves.
How much of the book is realistic?
I'd say most of it is fairly realistic, although there may be parts that some may open to discussion. I don't work in an office like Allegra, but I've done enough office-like work that I hope her office seems realistic.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Allegra is, and always will be, the fictional representation of myself. It was inadvertent that it happened that way, but my real life snark started to weave in and the rest is history. There are actually a couple dialogue scenes that are based on real life things that happened. A few lines of Allegra's are similar to my own quotes, and the text message conversation between Allegra and Devlin is loosely based on one I had with a guy. The majority of the story is fictional, though.
What books have most influenced your life most?
Reading On Dublin Street by Samantha Young was a turning point for me. I hadn't really read many books that featured sex at that point so it opened the door to expand not only my reading, but my writing as well.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
That would be nearly impossible for me to pick. I've come across so many great authors that I would hate to leave any out. But...one that comes to mind is Claire Kent. Her stories are so addictive to read and I'd like to learn how she does it.
What book are you reading now?
Need You Tonight by Roni Loren and Undercover by Lauren Dane.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Rebecca Yarros and Harper Kinkaid are the ones that come to mind that are “new” authors. I read a lot and when I finish a new book, I usually check out the author's books to see if they have any others and most of the time they do, even though I thought I was reading their debut, lol.
What are your current projects?
There's Unexpected, the NA novel, but there are also two more that I'm contemplating. One is a full-length erotica about learning to love again. The other is a short story. I'm planning on putting together several short stories into one ebook so I've been outlining a few ideas to work on over the months in between my novels.
What would you like my readers to know?
Well, I love hearing from and chatting with readers. I have a street team/fan group on Facebook and I love talking to everyone on there. Feel free to join and I'd be super happy to have you on board!
