Excerpt:
“I’ve been
wanting to do this for a while,” he whispered in my ear, still pressed against
me as he unzipped my dress.
Me too, I wanted
to say. But I didn’t. I was adrift in the onslaught of sensation as he slid the
fabric from me, trailing kisses down my back as it went. Making me aware as I
never had been of how sensitive the skin there could be.

Interview
Where are you from?
Southern California. I grew up here but love to
travel. Two of my favorite places in the world are Vancouver Canada, Germany
and Austria.
Tell us your latest news?
Man Candy just came out! Woo hoo! It is book one of
The Cougar Journals, a series I am writing.
When and why did you begin writing?
I’ve dabbled in writing since I was a kid, ask my
parents. But about a year and a half ago I decided to take a serious stab at it
and pull that dream into reality. So glad that I did! Since then I have
finished 7 manuscripts, five of which are published. The other two I am waiting
to hear back from publishers on. At the moment I am wrapping up another full
length for Hot Ink Books as well. So much going on. I love it!
When did you first consider yourself a
writer?
I was one of those ones who kept it on the down-low
until I actually got my first contract. After that I proudly proclaimed it when
people would ask me what I did for work. However, internally, before I got that
first contract, I said it to myself often. I’m one of those who is big on
having faith and envisioning what it is you want and “labelling” myself as a
writer, just to myself in my own mind, was the first step.
What inspired you to write your first
book?
That’s really hard to say. At best I can pinpoint it
to a random train of thought where I wondered what would happen if Cupid’s bow
was stolen. There was no specific inspiration really. The story sort of grew
from there as I answered the questions where, what, why, how and by whom.
Do you have a specific writing style?
I have no idea! Haha. I think I try to emulate what
I think good writing should be and what the characters and story dictate I
write. However I think that my “style” as such, probably can be best determined
from this latest release, Man Candy, which was written in first-person. Someone
please tell me what you think my style is. I would love your interpretation.
How did you come up with the title?
Man Candy is a term that I’ve heard some of my
younger friends say and it has gotten more and more popular, I think. Not sure
who made it up. But as I was writing this book and searching for titles it
struck me as the perfect one.
Is there a message in your novel that
you want readers to grasp?
Nah. The only mission I have with all of my stories
it to entertain people and pull them out of their daily grind for a while.
How much of the book is realistic?
Cougars are such a common phenomenon that I think
most of the book is realistic. But I wish I had a real-live cougar on hand to
interview. Most of it was written from my imagination but I think it smacks of
reality based on what I’ve seen and heard in real-life.
Are experiences based on someone you
know, or events in your own life?
Oh yes. It’s based on several someones. I like to
take parts and fuse them together, then make up other parts. We all know how
young guys are, how they dress and how they live. In fact, my editor commented
that she thought she had been to the house I described in the book where Ava
and her friend Bree go to hand out with some guys after they leave the bar.
What can I say, men can be predictable. Any girl stuck in a bachelor pad
bathroom will totally identify with that scene.
What books have influenced your life
most?
I love books that motivate and inspire. I want to be
around other people who are positive and believe that your dreams can come
true. There are so many good ones out there but, at this point in time, I love
really love books by Deepak Chopra and Dave Ramsey.
If you had to choose, which writer
would you consider a mentor?
I would love to speak with Nora Roberts and pick her
brain. She is a force to be reckoned with. Stephen King is amazing also and I
love his book On Writing.
What book are you reading now?
I always have a few that I read at the same time. On
Audible I am listening to Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. And am anxiously
awaiting The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead. I also have The Thank You Economy by
Gary Vaynerchuk in the living room.
Are there any new authors that have
grasped your interest?
I’m not sure how new she is but I love Richelle
Mead. For some reason I have been gravitating toward the Young Adult section of
the bookstore lately. Probably because I have a short attention span. I was in
the airport bookstore the other day found it amusing that I had already read
everything in their YA section.
What are your current projects?
I am currently wrapping up a book for Hot Ink Books.
It is going to be part of an anthology titled The Seven Sins. I picked the sin
envy, so that is what the whole story is centered around. *rubs hands together*
It has been a lot of fun plotting that one!
What would you like my readers to
know?
I will be attending RomCon 2015 this year and I
would love to meet any of your readers that are there. If they are going, they
can get a ticket to sit with me during the Reader’s Weekend luncheon here.
