Interview

Where are you from? I live in Sarasota, Florida but I am from Seattle though.  And I was born and raised in Hawaii.

Tell us your latest news? I just released Blood Prophecy: Queen’s Destiny on October 1, 2014 through my publisher, World Castle Publishing.  It’s been an exciting ride so far!

When and why did you begin writing? I’ve always written but I think the most significant time I started was when I was 9 years old.

When did you first consider yourself a writer? I think a lot of writers need to cross a threshold to consider themselves a writer.  For me, I was 9 and in the fourth grade (in Hawaii).  I had to write a Haiku poem, a story and my teacher told me that these were the most beautiful things she ever read.  She told me that if I believed in myself and didn’t stop writing, I could be a writer that day.  From that point on, nothing stopped me from writing.

What inspired you to write your first book? I was really not impressed with the way books and movies were portraying vampires and the like.  I mean, they don’t sparkle, walk in daylight, etc.  So I wanted to write a book for me that would satisfy what I was missing when reading or seeing paranormal movies and books.

Do you have a specific writing style? I am more of what they call a “Pantster”. I can’t plan out what I write.  In fact, I don’t even know how each book will end!

How did you come up with the title? As I was writing, it just hit me that this was about a Queen and her destiny.  So, put the two words together and voila! Queen’s Destiny!

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? I don’t have a specific message but I think it all boils down to the fact that there can be peace and unification to people, human and supernatural.

How much of the book is realistic? The places are realistic but the prophecy is something I created.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life? Certain locations are based on my experience – like where I went to college, places I would hang out and all.  Some of the characters’  personalities and quirks are based on me and some of my dearest friends.

What books have most influenced your life most? There is one book and it’s called The Imitation of Christ.  I’m Christian and I found that this book really motivates me and is very influential.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor? I would choose Chris Kuzneski.

What book are you reading now? I’m just finishing Chris Kuzneski’s Hunters.  Awesome book!

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? I will read anything and everything.

What are your current projects? I’m working on the second book Queen’s Enemy, a YA series between werewolves and hunters, and novellas on the series.

What would you like my readers to know? Besides the usual, I would love for you to read my book (laughing), I actually would like them to know that I am thankful to have them and consider them all friends.  I love interacting with my fans, present and future fans.  All emails, notes, etc are personally answered by me!
