Relics
Most of Thulu and La Fi's clients are dead. Which is perfect since their detective agency caters to the supernatural. But a simple job finding a lost locket leads to a big case tracking relics for an ancient daemon. The daemon needs the relics to keep a dangerous portal closed. His enemy, Gabriel, wants the relics to open the portal and give his people access to a new feeding ground – Earth. Caught on live TV, other portals begin to open and the creatures of magic return to Earth. The people of Earth are not alone, but will soon wish they were. When Gabriel threatens their family, Thulu and La Fi's search becomes personal. The couple will need powerful help in the race to find the relics before Gabriel does. But maybe that's what ghostly friends, magical allies and daemonic clients are for. When the creatures of myth and magic return to Earth, they're nothing like your mother's fairy tales.

Interview:
I’ve lived in the high desert of Southern Nevada for a very long
time. I’m close enough to Vegas to visit often, but have the privacy you get in
a rural area.
Tell us your latest news?
I’ve just renamed, rebranded and released my series: Modern Magics. It’s been quite exciting
to get five titles back out into the world…all while writing the third book and
fourth story in the series.
What inspired you to write your first book?
The first book came from the names “Thulu and La Fi.” Those names
were nicknames I almost gave two friends in the game, World of Warcraft. But as
I typed them into the chatbox, I realized who they were and what they did. I
never told the couple their names. I wrote the book instead.
How did you come up with the title?
I like short, easy to remember titles. This one was super
easy…well, once I really thought about it. Thulu and La Fi are hired to find
relics to close a dangerous portal. But Relics
wasn’t the original title, which was way too long and really, really bad.
Since I had to rewrite the second half of the book, I needed a new title. As
soon as I decided to rename the book, Relics
popped into my head as the obvious choice.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Nope. It’s pure escapist entertainment. I hope it is, anyway. If
the reader chooses to take something away, that’s great, but not my intent.
What books have most influenced your life most?
I’ve read so many books in my life that there’s no way I could
narrow that down to even a Top Ten list. J Every book I read has
something to offer, something I can take away, something new to learn,
something cool to consider. Some books I enjoyed reading the most are Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series and
Rowling’s the Harry Potter series.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
For new authors, I’m very fond of Sean T. Poindexter’s books. His
writing is so compelling. I also enjoy Constance Phillips, Louann Carroll and
Wendy Russo. The Indie world has given us so many awesome authors. And there
are many new books that I want to read. Plus I need to keep up with my old
standbys like George R.R. Martin, Stephen King, Dean Koontz and so many others.
There isn’t enough time for them all, though.
What are your current projects?
I’m working on Magics: Modern Magics, Book 3, which finishes
off the story of what happens when magic returns to Earth. I’m also writing a
fourth prequel novelette in the series, “Wedding Ghost.” On the back burner, I
have a Biography/Memoir of my friendship with Philip K Dick and a Historical
Fantasy, both of which are in their beginning stages. I have a Sci Fi series
also planned.
What would you like my readers to know?
This series has been a lot of fun to write and hopefully your
readers will enjoy reading it. It didn’t go where I expected it to go. I
started off thinking I was writing about this couple who were detectives to the
supernatural world. Instead, I was writing about what would happen if magic
were to really return to Earth as seen through their eyes. It’s a blend of
Urban Fantasy, Science Fiction and Paranormal Mystery.
