Then
a familiar sensation caught Skylee by surprise. The necklace was growing cold
again. She could no longer hold back her emotions. A single tear streamed down
Skylee’s face and fell on the necklace forming a frozen droplet.
Out
of nowhere, a strong gust of wind blew through the trees. Skylee and Will
watched in stunned silence as a huge jet of water rose from the lake and moved
toward them. Then it took shape, swirling over their heads in a perfect circle.
“What’s
happening?” gasped Skylee, staring up at the rotating water.
“No
idea!” Will shouted in astonishment as he stuffed the envelope into his pocket.
The
waterspout twirled faster and faster making their hair whip against their
startled faces. Skylee had the odd sensation of being pulled upward. It was as
if a giant invisible vacuum cleaner was going to suck her into the vortex. She
heard Will yell out her name as her feet lifted off the ground.
