Hold Still by Lisa Regan Excerpt, Interview & Giveaway

Hold Still
by Lisa Regan

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Three men are viciously assaulting Philadelphia's prostitutes, and it's up to veteran detective Jocelyn Rush to stop them. She catches two, but they won't betray their partner, the most dangerous of all, and the attacks continue, striking closer to home. Jocelyn's only real clue comes when a monster from her past resurfaces--now she must race to connect the demons of her past with the villain of her present--before the sadistic attacker sets his sights on her.
Excerpt
Jocelyn took a quick look up and down the street, gauging how long it would take her to sprint to Martina’s door and back. It shouldn’t take more than ten seconds. As a rule, she never left Olivia alone in the car—not even when she was paying for gas—but the door was only twenty feet away. It would be faster to run for it than to unfasten Olivia’s seat belt and carry her to and fro.
Jocelyn slipped her seat belt off and got out, closing the door softly behind her. She sprinted up the steps and snatched the bag from between the doors. As she turned back to her car, she saw the figure, just a blur in her periphery. Then her Ford Explorer drove off down Chew Avenue with Olivia in the back seat.
Jocelyn leapt off the steps and ran into the street.
“Olivia!” she screamed.
She had never run so fast, and was only vaguely aware of the other cars whizzing past, beeping and swerving to avoid her, expletives rolling out of the mouths of passing motorists. The Explorer made the first right onto North 21st Street and Jocelyn followed, arms and legs pumping, feet slapping the pavement, her heartbeat thundering in her ears. She reached for her gun but quickly remembered she didn’t have it. It was her day off.
“Da**it.”
She was losing ground as the Explorer turned right onto Conlyn and out of her sight.
“Olivia!”
Interview:
Where are you from?
I was born and mostly raised in Philadelphia, which is where I live now. I lived in Central Pennsylvania for a time: went to high school in Danville and college in Bloomsburg. When I was very young we spent a few years on Long Island, but I always come back to Philadelphia.
Tell us your latest news?
My latest news is that my third novel, Hold Still is being produced on Audiobook!
When and why did you begin writing?
I started writing as soon as I could put words on the page. By the time I was eleven years old, I was writing full-length novels on an old typewriter one of my parents had gotten for me. I really started writing to try to make sense of my world and confusing things going on around me and also because it provided a really exciting escape!
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I always thought of myself as a writer. Writing was like breathing for me from a very early age. But I didn’t think of myself as an author until I had my first book contract.
What inspired you to write your first book?
My first book that I wrote when I was eleven? It was a terrible YA mystery novel inspired by me gorging myself on Nancy Drew and Christopher Pike novels. My first adult novel that has been published is Finding Claire Fletcher and that was inspired by my lifelong obsession with the Jacob Wetterling abduction.
What would you like my readers to know?
I would like readers to know that I appreciate it when they take a chance on one of my books. I know they’re not for everyone just based on the subject matter. Just like not all people like television shows like Law & Order and other police dramas, not everyone will like a crime thriller. I also know that there are hundreds of thousands of amazing books out there for readers to choose from, so when a reader chooses to give up their valuable time to read one of mine, I am extremely grateful.
