 About the author: Kristy Cambron has been fascinated with the WWII era since hearing her grandfather's stories of the war. She holds an art history degree from Indiana University and received the Outstanding Art History Student Award. Kristy writes WWII and Regency era fiction and has placed first in the 2013 NTRWA Great Expectations and 2012 FCRW Beacon contests, and is a 2013 Laurie finalist. My Review:
This was a great book. It made me cry for the people that were killed by Hitler. It also made me think about how two soul mates are going to keep crossing paths. I never knew about the "bands" that played for the soldiers and the victims of the gas chambers. I liked this book because it was a story about a German soldier and his family. I have really only read about the victims versions. However this was such a horrible war that everyone was a victim. This is all just the background. The major plot was about Adele and her willingness to go against everything her family was in order to do what was right. Sera and William are also in the present and they trace the steps of Adele's life in order to find answers. It amazed me that this whole quest for answers started with a girl in a portrait. I loved the ending and I was smiling for the characters in this book. Through it all love for God and each other was always there. There is so much more to this book, and I would love to say more, especially about the head of the "band", but I do not want to give it away! I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.
