 BOOK SUMMARY:

We weren't a relationship, we were a ticking time bomb...

Maggie Carpenter walked away from the hottest encounter of her life when she left the seductive glitz of England for summer break in her South Carolina hometown. Now that she’s returned to the International School in London—and sexy, privileged Samir Khouri is once again close enough to touch—she can’t help but remember the attraction, the drama … the heartbreak.

She can’t help but want him even more.

Samir can’t afford to fall for someone so far removed from his world, not when his time in London is running out. It's his senior year—his last chance at freedom before he returns home to Lebanon. There, he’ll be expected to follow in his father’s footsteps—not follow his heart to Maggie. But when a scorching secret hookup becomes a temptation neither can resist, they’ll both have to fight to survive the consequences … and find a future together.

Don’t miss this explosive sequel to I See London, and the riveting conclusion to Maggie and Samir’s story. This is a New Adult romance recommended for readers 17 and up.

Author Information

Originally a Florida girl, CHANEL CLEETON moved to London where she received a bachelor’s degree from Richmond, The American International University in London and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Chanel fell in love with London and planned to stay there forever, until fate intervened on a Caribbean cruise, and an American fighter pilot with smooth dance moves swept her off her feet. Now, a happily ever after later, Chanel is living her next adventure in South Korea.
Law school made Chanel realize she’d rather spend her days writing sexy stories than in a courtroom, and she hasn’t looked back since. An avid reader and hopeless romantic, she’s happiest curled up with a book. She has a weakness for handbags, her three pups, and her fighter pilot husband. Chanel writes New Adult contemporary romances and thrillers.
She is the author of I SEE LONDON and LONDON FALLING, published by Harlequin HQN, and FLIRTING WITH SCANDAL, the first book in a new NA series to be released by Berkley in 2015.

Ten All-Time Favorite Contemporary Romances
By Chanel Cleeton

Growing up, I loved reading contemporary romances. Authors like Judith McNaught and Nora Roberts wrote books with strong women and the alpha men who loved them. The settings were often glamorous and sexy, the romance electric. This love for contemporary romance has stayed with me throughout my life and definitely influenced my writing. And I’m still a sucker for an alpha male.

Here are ten of my all-time favorite contemporary romances. I’ve read these books dozens of times, often replacing them when my copies have become worn-out.

1.      Paradise by Judith McNaught
Judith McNaught is probably my all-time favorite author. Both her historical romances and contemporaries are simply magic. Paradise is one of those books that made me fall in love with romance. It’s also a huge influence on why I’m a writer today. I still remember riding in the car, reading this book (I think I was twelve) and feeling like my mind was blown. The chemistry between these characters is off the charts and the love story is gut wrenching and gorgeous. It’s pretty much impossible to finish this book and not be absolutely in love with the hero.

2.      Daring to Dream by Nora Roberts
Nora Roberts is the other author who made me fall in love with romance. I think I’ve read every book she’s ever written, but for some reason, Daring to Dream always sticks out as a favorite. I read it at a young age and I think I identified with the heroine, Margo, who was looking for an adventure and seeking more out of her life. I was a restless kid, so her big dreams definitely spoke to me. And the romance? Incredible. Not only is the hero irresistible, his chemistry with Margo is sexy and their banter so hot. Set against the glamorous backdrop of the wealthy and elite in Monterey, California, this book is the ultimate escape.

3.      Honest Illusions by Nora Roberts
I don’t think you can have a “favorite contemporary romance” list without several Nora Roberts titles. At least I can’t J She is the ultimate master. Honest Illusions has so many of the Nora Roberts hallmarks: suspense, passion, a smart, sassy heroine, and an alpha male with a bit of a dangerous streak. The hero and heroine are the perfect balance for each other and I love that this book follows their relationship as it grows and evolves from childhood friends to lovers. Also, there’s magic and jewel thieves. Win.

4.      True Betrayals by Nora Roberts
I grew up around horses and I’m a huge horse lover. Books about horses were usually cool with my parents and while this one is set against the backdrop of horse racing, I don’t think they realized I was reading a ROMANCE novel. I think this might have been one of the first romance novels I ever read. I was about ten years old and I completely fell in love with this book and Nora Roberts. Not only is the couple sexy and fun, but there’s a solid mystery to the story and a great supporting cast. You instantly feel like you’re a member of the racing world.

5.      Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley
This book is a recent favorite—I just started reading Kristen Ashley after a friend’s recommendation and started with Sweet Dreams. By the time I finished I was all, “Where have you been all my life?” I then proceeded to binge read Kristen Ashley books. I think what I loved most about this book is that it was unlike anything I would normally ever read, but it was just done so well that I instantly fell in love with it. It easily made it to my all-time favorite list and I can’t wait to reread it.

6.      Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas
Lisa Kleypas is another author who writes gorgeous historicals and amazing contemporaries. Her series about a wealthy Texas family is one of my favorites and Blue-Eyed Devil has so much emotion that I think it’s the best book in the series. The hero is a little rough around the edges but he has an amazing heart and his protectiveness will definitely make you swoon. The story really focus on the heroine’s personal journey as well as her romance with the hero and it makes for a heart tugging read.

7.      Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella
I’m a huge Sophie Kinsella fan and while I love all of her books, there’s something about Remember Me that is really special. While the book might technically not be called a contemporary romance, I added it because I love it that much. It takes the amnesia trope and adds a fresh spin and a complex story that on the surface seems fun and even a bit silly, but really creates a powerful impact. There’s a line in this book—that I won’t share because it’s spoilery—that guts me every time. It really is a fun yet deep read.

8.      Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie
Nobody does comedy and romance like Jennifer Crusie. It was hard to pick favorites of hers because there were just SO many good books to choose from, but Bet Me blew me away because the heroine is unique (especially at the time this was published). She’s not the pretty, sexy, perfect woman all the guys want. She’s a real woman, with a real woman’s body, and I love that the hero loves that about her. There’s some amazing banter in this book. It’s fun and sexy and smart.

9.      It Had to Be You by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Susan Elizabeth Phillips is another master of comedy and romance. I had a hard time picking one of her books to put on the list because they’re all fabulous, but for some reason, It Had to Be You really stuck out. I think because it was the first book of hers that I read, and it’s pretty hard to forget the book that opened your eyes to the world of Susan Elizabeth Phillips. This is an amazing sports romance with hot chemistry and amazing banter.

10.  Faking It by Jennifer Crusie
So I couldn’t limit myself to just one Jennifer Crusie book. Faking It is HILARIOUS. The characters are so fresh and unique and the storyline is adorably quirky. Jennifer Crusie does a fantastic job of immersing her readers in a world they’ll never want to leave. This book is so much fun and it’s a wild ride with some pretty hot moments along the way.

How about you? Have you read any of my all-time faves? What are some of your favorite contemporary romance reads?
