Survival  - A Mystical Wonders Novel (Book 4)
Women’s Fiction-Contemporary Romance

Staten Island, New York, during Hurricane Sandy is the setting for Survival.  Hurricane Sandy turned out to be the storm of the century with Staten Island, lower Manhattan, the Rockaways and the New Jersey Shore getting hit the worst.  The day after the storm, I went out on foot.  Blue police barriers and yellow rope surrounded much of the street and stores.  The hurricane hit us hard, our local stores, school and libraries.  To this day, houses still aren’t rebuilt, stores remain shut and libraries still don’t have a hundred percent supply of books.

In Circle of Friends, Second Chances and The Right Call, my characters live near the shoreline of Staten Island.  Survival is my character’s own stories.

Ten Things that inspired me to write Survival

  1. Hearing the sound of the water and wind from my house, which is a mile away from the shoreline.
  2. Going out the next to see exactly what happened.
  3. Finding a boat washed up on shore.
  4. Seeing the boardwalk ripped apart.
  5. Going into my friend’s house in knee high water helping her save what personal belongings that weren’t under water.
  6. Not being able to drive down streets covered with sand.
  7. Hearing people’s stories of devastation and loss.
  8. Tears from the people who lost everything.
  9. Bringing old blankets, clothes and food down to a make-shift center.
  10. Seeing the devastation first hand.
