ABOUT THE AUTHOR
R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name. Renae wrote her first poem in third grade and learned she might have a knack for this writing thing, while Lara remembers sneaking her grandmother’s Harlequin novels when she was probably too young to be reading them and always knew she wanted to write her own.
When they met in college, they bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. What really spiced up their friendship was when Lara introduced Renae to romance novels, and when they discovered their first vampire romance they knew there would always be a special place in their hearts for paranormal romance. After being unable to find certains storylines and characteristics they wanted to read about in the hundreds of books they consumed, they decided to write their own.
They both live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area where they’re a sonographer/stay-at-home mom and pharmacist by day and sexy author by night.

How R.L. Kenderson Came To Be
We are R.L. Kenderson, and we
recently self-published our first book, Forbidden Blood. We say
"we," because R.L. Kenderson is actually two people writing under one
name.
We met in college, way back in
let's-not-mention-it-because-it-dates-us. Lara was classmates with two of
Renae's roommates, and they first discovered that they had a common interest in
the TV show Charmed. (Whoops, looks
like we dated ourselves anyway.) Looking back now, it's kind of cool that we
first connected over a television show about the supernatural, and then we decided
to write a paranormal romance novel together.
The next big moment in their
friendship was when Lara introduced Renae to romance novels. Renae had always
been a big reader, and had read books with sex in them, but romance novels had
somehow escaped her radar. This opened up a whole new world for Renae. The
first romance novel she read was Mr.
Perfect by Linda Howard, and she loved it so much she went online and
bought all of Linda Howard's books. At this point though, we still considered
each other friends of friends. We didn't hang out much, and it was never just
the two of us.
The following year we became
roommates with a friend that we had in common. This third friend went home for
the summer, which really brought us closer because it was just the two of us,
and it really made us more of friends rather than acquaintances. We not only
bonded over books, but TV, movies, and Papa Murphy's pizza as well.
It was after we lived together that
Renae found her first paranormal romance novel. It was in a used book store,
sitting on an end cap. The book was Dark
Lover by J.R. Ward (we know, we know, who would ever take that to a used
book store, right?), and Renae fell in love with it. It took her a few months
to tell Lara about it because the only vampires Lara could picture were the
ones in The Lost Boys, and let's face
it, seeing that as a child could turn anyone off of vampires. So it wasn't
until after the release of Lover Eternal
that Renae sent Lara the first two Black Dagger Brotherhood books and asked her
to read them with an open mind. Of course, Lara loved them as well, and we
started reading all sorts of paranormal romance. Lora Leigh, Kresley Cole,
Nalini Singh, and Jacquelyn Frank to name a few.
Fast forward to a "few"
years later, and during a road trip we started talking about what we would
write about if we decided to write our own book. We actually decided to give it
a try, and now here we are with our first book out, our second on the horizon,
and a third started. Who knew all those years ago that we'd
end up here?
