Fatal Desire by Valarie Twomblly Interview & Giveaway

Book #2 Guardians Series

Paranormal Romance
Date Published: March 12, 2014

Caleb is dark, hot, and commanding in human form. As a dragon, he’s a force to be reckoned with. When he witnesses the slave Lileta being beaten by his Overlord Odage, he nearly comes unglued. Without understanding why, he asks to take the slave as his own, but soon realizes his longing is more than an attraction to a beautiful woman. In a sick twist of fate, the gods have given him a demon as his mate—one he can never touch unless he wishes his own death. His only choice is to grant her freedom.
Lileta wanted to kill Caleb, but when she is freed by this tempting male, her anger turns to a desire that can only prove fatal. Even if she could claim him as her own, her dark past makes her unworthy of his love.
When their paths continue to intertwine, spiraling them to the brink of passion, can they resist the yearnings burning within them, or will they submit to their fatal desire?

Valerie Twombly

As a child, Valerie would often get into trouble for peeking at her mother’s favorite TV show, Dark Shadows. She can still hear her mothersaying, “It will give you nightmares.” She was right of course, but that did not stop Valerie from watching. As an adult, her love of the fanged creatures never waned. She would watch any vampire movie she could find.

Being a true romantic, Valerie was thrilled when she discovered the genre of paranormal romance. Her first read was one of Lara Adrian’s, Midnight Breed Series and from there she was hooked.

Today, Valerie has decided to take her darker, sensual side and put it to paper. When she is not busy creating a world full of steamy, hot men and strong, seductive women, she juggles her time between a full-time job, hubby and her two German shepherd dogs, in Northern IL.

Valerie is a member of Romance Writers of America and Fantasy, Futuristic and Paranormal Romance Writers. She is also a member of Coffee Talk Writers and the Coffee Talk website –a site designed to support established writers and foster new talent.

Interview
What inspired you to write your first book?
I'd have to say the voices in my head were my first inspiration. My husband was the second. He told me I should write my own stories. Believe it or not the genre itself. I love vampires and everything that goes into paranormal romance and it's such a fun genre to write.

Do you have a specific writing style?
By the seat of my pants. I'm not a plotter at all, though I do make notes on things I know need to happen or those times when I come up with an idea for the story line but can't work on it. I love dialog and cringe when I have to write fight scenes.

How did you come up with the title?
Fatal Desire was an easy title. You have a dragon shifter and a demon who have been chosen to be mates, yet our demon Lileta is poisonous to Caleb. Hence his desire for her could only prove fatal.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
I hope they walk away with feeling Lileta's strength. She is a woman who has been through a lot. While her intimate story of abduction and rape are not told in detail the reader will come to learn about it. Lileta shows us her fears about not being good enough, about love and family. She also shows us her strengths, the woman is a fighter, and in the end she learns to trust again.

How much of the book is realistic?
I think the relationship between Caleb and Lileta is very real. Otherwise the rest is pure fiction.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
This story is not based on any person I know.

What books have most influenced your life most?
My favorite book is Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It ran me through the gamut of emotions and left me exhausted at the end. Some might question why I’d love a book like that. I think it takes real talent to grab a reader and hold them in emotional limbo for such an extended period. She gives me something to aspire to J

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Oh it’s hard to pick only one, but I really love Rebecca Zanetti. I like her writing style and I’ve actually been blessed to meet her in person. She is the nicest woman I have ever met.

What book are you reading now?
Actually I just started Tamed, by Rebecca Zanetti. I’m very anxious for the next book to come out already, lol.
What would you like my readers to know?
That I’m just a plain gal who loves to tell stories. It wasn’t something I always aspired to do, but discovered much later in life. I absolutely love to hear from my fans so feel free to drop me a line anytime.
