Michael Matthews has been in love with Katherine Moore since the second grade. In Michaels mind there is absolutely nothing that will ever be able to keep the two of them apart. The night Michael is set to propose to Katherine the evening is interrupted by an unexpected tragedy that tears the two of them apart for good.
Three years have passed since that fateful night when Katherine, now known as Kate meets Daniel. After an awkward start sparks fly between them. I'm a wife, a mom and a dog lover. I'm also a taxi, problem fixer, extreme multi-tasker and my kids biggest fan in anything that they do. I love to write, so when my career suddenly derailed I turned back to my love of writing. I married my high school sweetheart... how cool is that? Margaritas and sarcasm make me happy. Chocolate makes that happiness grow exponentially. People who make me laugh are my favorite kind of people. I believe Karma is a bitch who slaps back hard and that mean people suck. Tell us your latest news? I'm really excited that Catching Kate is coming out July 7th. Catching Kate is a novella but you do need to read Breaking Kate first. Both books are part of The Acceptance Series.
When and why did you begin writing? I've always loved to write, for me it was a way of communication for a long time. My mom encouraged the written word vs the spoken word in our house when I was growing up. Breaking Kate is my first full length novel.
When did you first consider yourself a writer? Probably in high school, back then though I was writing more poetry than stories. I knew I wanted to write I just wasn't sure of how or when I would finally take the leap and immerse myself in it.
What inspired you to write your first book? A few different things inspired me, my love of reading, the new Indie writing scene that was more accessible because of e-readers and my change of career. I work in an industry that is constantly being outsourced to other countries so finding and maintaining employment in the US at a reasonable rate of pay was becoming more and more difficult. I'm still working but less hours and that gives me the opportunity to pursue a career in writing.
Do you have a specific writing style? No not necessarily, I have been told my book is an emotional read. It is also very dialogue heavy, some people really enjoy that and others not so much.
How did you come up with the title? It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. In fact the book didn't have a title until it was almost done. Ultimately I realized that the title should really equate with the main characters struggle and the title came from there.
