Tragic Love by M.S. Brannon Guest Post

New Adult Romance
Date Published: 11/6/2013

“From the moment I locked eyes with hers, we've had this undeniable connection that was and will always be wicked. A love that would literally kill me if it didn't survive, but lately, could kill me if it did.” ~Drake Evans.

For Drake and Presley, life has handed them more challenges than any one person should ever face in a lifetime. Together, they've survived Presley’s captivity from her deranged uncle, but now they must learn how to live with the events that surrounded her time spent with him, while keeping the details of her rescue a secret.

For Presley Quinn, living the last two years has been practically unbearable, constantly drowning in nightmares put there by a man responsible for the violent imagines continually playing in her mind. She keeps moving forward, but is barely clinging onto the edge when she’s faced with another obstacle from her past that is so unavoidable, so tragic, it threatens to break her apart—herself.

Drake will do anything to protect Presley from ever feeling pain again. His love is irrefutable. He walks side by side with her, vowing he will never let anyone harm her again. However, when an unexpected event turns Presley against everyone she’s ever loved, Drake is faced with trying to save the only woman he’s ever loved or severing the only lifeline she’s ever had—himself.

Starting Out as a Writer—Five Things You Should Know
1)      Research: When I began my writing career, I knew nothing of the industry. Once my book was finished I didn’t know what to do next. I never heard of beta readers, bloggers, or even how to self publish. It took a lot of time reading, researching, and trusting people I shouldn’t have but eventually it all worked out.
2)      Time: If publishing a book is something you’ve always wanted to do then you need to make time for it. I would love to make this my full time career, but I have to be conscience of my responsibilities. To accommodate my family commitments and the time I spend at my full time job, I will get up at three o’clock in the morning to write.  It’s not easy, but I’m dedicated to make this a lasting career and putting in the effort when I can.
3)      Support: I wouldn’t have made it five minutes if I didn’t have the support of my family, friends, and people I met in the industry. Whenever I felt frustrated or needed someone to bounce ideas off of, I knew I could rely on my support team for that help. They are my cheerleaders, and will always be there to support me.
4)      Backbone: This is a very cut throat industry and if you can accept rejection and negativity toward your work then walk away. I’ve receive my fair share of bad reviews. At first it angered me and I felt offended by their words. Then, I got a swift kick in the rear from my editors who told me to shake it off. I stirred up emotion in someone, so much so, they had to write it down and publish it. It takes a lot for a person to feel emotion when they read and I was successful at it. They told me even bad reviews are useful.

5)      Celebrate: Publishing a book is a lot of work and not everyone has the guts to put themselves out there for the world to critique.  So, celebrate what you’ve accomplished—no matter how small.  Be proud of your success.
