About the Author…
Christine Amsden has been writing science fiction and fantasy for as long as she can remember. She loves to write and it is her dream that others will be inspired by this love and by her stories. Speculative fiction is fun, magical, and imaginative but great speculative fiction is about real people defining themselves through extraordinary situations. Christine writes primarily about people and it is in this way that she strives to make science fiction and fantasy meaningful for everyone.
At the age of 16, Christine was diagnosed with Stargardt’s Disease, a condition that effects the retina and causes a loss of central vision. She is now legally blind, but has not let this slow her down or get in the way of her dreams.
In addition to writing, Christine teaches workshops on writing at Savvy Authors. She also does some freelance editing work.
Christine currently lives in the Kansas City area with her husband, Austin, who has been her biggest fan and the key to her success. They have two beautiful children, Drake and Celeste. (via author's site).
Author Interview:
1. What do you listen to while you write? Silence, tv?
Never TV! I'd never get the voices out of my head. But I rotate between music and silence, depending upon my mood.
2. Do you have a lucky writing charm that you have to have with you when you write?
No. Should I get one? That's not a bad idea. Hmmm....
I do sometimes light candles to help me focus, but those burn down and need replacing on a regular basis. :)
3. If you could go back in time and tell someone's secret, who would you pick?
Just the other day I was thinking about going back in time and what I would say. I figured I'd have to bring back this YouTube clip and play it over and over again whenever anyone asked me a question, especially about the identity of Dr. River Song:
4. What one word would you pick to describe yourself?
Dreamer. (Coincidentally, that's the name of the last book in the Cassie Scot series.)
5. What would you like my readers to know?
I'd love your readers to give Cassie Scot a try. Please start with book one if you haven't read the series. This isn't one of those read-in-any-order series. You will get confused if you try to read out of order. And if you're not sure what you think, just check out the first few chapters on my web site:
Thanks so much for having me here!
