The Case Of The Lomond Locket: A McConazie Brothers Mystery Review

~

There has to be more to life than lurking with a camera outside strange hotels and houses.
For New York private investigator David McConazie, an early mid-life crisis seems likely – especially since his latest adultery case brings him face to face with a crazed woman with a gun.  Ambitious brother Bill, however, is ready to take his detective agency to the next level when he is hired by a fabulously wealthy Manhattan socialite to retrieve her mother’s treasured locket from a con man.

The brothers soon suffer a series of bizarre mishaps as they follow their quarry from the US to London to the beautiful Loch Lomond in Scotland.  As the brothers are stymied by the slower pace of life and David falls for the local vet, will Bill ever find the thief and return triumphant to New York?  If he can get beyond the vegetable growing contests and fancy dress parties, he might just unravel the full story behind the Lomond Locket...

My Review:
I loved that these brothers were looking for a family locket. I also liked the way the author wrote about Scotland. I could close my eyes and visualize what he described. The brothers were also very well described and, having 3 siblings of my own, I felt as though they were how brothers in their place would really act. I t was interesting to read about how they wanted to live two different lifestyles and yet they were so alike that it was almost uncanny. The author did describe non mystery related items too much and I found myself questioning everything. I thought that the items were clues to the mystery. However I think that that is why I was clueless at the end of the story. All in all mystery is well worth the read. I am giving this book a 4/5.
