All functional and jewelry items are made with compatible glass. Each piece goes through a series of phases including design, kiln firings and cold work to emphasize specific individual results. No two pieces are alike. All the f used glass is very durable and dishwasher safe upon completion.
The design phase involves planning for the desired end result withcolor, pattern, and size. Both inspiration and planning must occur to ensure the results are aesthetically pleasing. We select the appropriate glass, (i.e. sheet, frit, powder, stringer, rods, shards, etc.), and plan for the specific project. We then carefully prepare the layout for firing.
The firing phase finalizes the product design. Glass projects are fired to 1200-1500°F. The individual pieces must be heated and cooled at different rates according to the size and thickness of the glass in order to ensure solid and durable results . This process can take anywhere from five to seven hours. On average, each piece created takes seven hours to fire and seven hours to cool
Lisa sent me the items above (not the book, only the bookmark). The platter is awesome and matches my billiard theme wine glasses and platters. What I like about this company is that they offer affordable and unique gifts. Not only do the gifts make great gifts, but they are also easy and affordable ways to live green. By recycling old products into new Lisa is truly making a difference. She offers so many great products for weddings and house warmings. I also saw a few items for birthdays and wedding showers. She even offers to make baby shower favors! Check out all her products here: http://www.carondesigns.com/store.html !!! I used the platter for cheese and crackers at my sister's graduation party, and I got so many compliments! Then I put it right in the dishwasher and was all done with clean-up! The bookmark I use constantly!!
I am giving away the earrings to a lucky reader of my blog! Please enter here:
