Being the frizzy-haired tomboy with buck teeth gave me a slight case of shyness as a kid. A colorful imagination meant escape and adventure at the drop of a hat. Over the years I learned that the insecurities I carried around were a waste of time. I still prefer a football game to a manicure any day of the week. That indispensable imagination has found its way into my writing providing a sense of joy and a true purpose.

My Review:
This was a very imaginative book for young adults. The illustrations were great and the plot was an easy one to understand. I liked the family dynamics, and I really liked the strength of Alexander's love for his family. Alexander is a strong character that has normal problems, and some very rare problems. The magic was fun to read about, and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for this author. The ending was a cliffhanger, and for that reason I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.
