When I was 13 I became a vegetarian. I have always thought that animals are so friendly to us, they we should take care of them. This book is adorable. It follows Beijo and his feline frolics as he wakes up and goes through the day. There are important parts in this book that talk about nature, as well as parts that tell you how to take care of cats. It also comes with a cd. I really liked when Beijo woke up and was waiting to be fed. Studies have shown that kids that bully animals will grow up to bully other kids. This book should be in every classroom, in every school, in every state! The illustrations were beautiful, and the story was cute and interesting. Beijo is definitely feisty, and it was so funny when he talked to birds! I am giving this book a 5/5! I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own!

Daniele has always loved and understood animals. She considers herself a sort of Ms. Dolittle and for most of her life felt more at home with animals than people.
She grew up surrounded by all kinds of her furry friends consisting of dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, hampsters etc.
As a child Daniele had the uncanny ability to nurse many animals back to health and then place them in loving homes. She always felt it was her calling to give them a voice. She encouraged anyone who would listen to treat them humanely and with respect as our fellow beings sharing this planet.
This passion has lead her to found “Beijo’s Corner” A Loving Environment To Promote Humane Treatment Of Animals & Celebrates Pets. Daniele truly believes children are the main focal point to resolve this issue of inhumane treatment of animals.
Getting children to view animals as beings worthy of respect and not just cute furry things to dress up and play with, but a part of the family is one of our goals. “Beijo’s Corner” is the vehicle that teaches them to do this by using various tools we have created.
The connection between animals and children is clearly obvious. Children that are raised with animals are better caretakers, less selfish and self centered.
It also has been proven they usually have better social skills and are more balanced. Which results in making them better citizens in society. Daniele has witnessed this time and time again to be factual.
Daniele strongly believes in children reading books. Although we exist in this dominant computer age nothing unlocks a child’s imagination & creativity like a book. She has written children’s stories for most of her life but didn’t share them until her half little brother William was diagnosed with cancer at age 7.
She would go to Cedars Sinai and read to him while he was getting his treatment. During one of these visits other children asked if they could sit in on the reading and before she knew it she had drawn a crowd.
Unfortunately William did not make it he passed at age 11 from a rare form of Leukemia. Daniele promised him that she would continue writing and reading her stories to children… and she has.
The first book “Adventures Of Beijo The Brave” “Backyard Adventure” is dedicated to William my precious little brother who left way too soon. Please enjoy and know you’re holding a piece of my heart.
This is so true and animals rule.
ReplyDeleteThey were on this planet befor the human race and therefore deserve as much respect as us the people.
This book and the story of Daniele Largo will and is having already an immense impact on educating kids to have a much better understanding how to interact and deal with animals .
