Forced To Serve Series:
Science Fiction Romances and Paranormal Romances are some of my favorite books, but frankly writing a book containing demon characters was never on my author "to-do" list. Angels maybe. Dragons definitely. Witches, warlocks, and wielders of magic--absolutely. But demons? I really never gave demons much thought.
Then I had a dream, an elaborate dream full of colors and mists as well as spaceships and creatures who looked human-like, but really weren't. Out of that dream Malachi, the Demon of Synar, was created, forming in my mind much like my explanation for how his character was created in my story. Malachi and his story are at the root of all the various heroes and heroines being "Forced To Serve" in this series. Malachi is not wholly good nor bad, but rather a creature with room for a lot of redemption. Since that could be said of most of us, I think readers will like him, at least eventually.
In addition to the normal "over 17" content in my type of romance, I would just like to mention that there is also a bit of violence in these books because that's what happens when characters work on the crew of a spaceship that rescues Peace Alliance officials from bad situations. I am also cross-listing this series as a "space opera" because to my delight it fits that genre as well being a romance.

Being captain of his own rescue ship is the life Liam Synar has always
dreamed of living. Being master of a hereditary demon is not. Coveting Malachi's
power, his exiled evil brother hunts him to capture the demon that Liam's life
mate unknowingly hosts. Putting Malachi inside Ania two years ago had been an
act to save her when she almost died saving him. If only the demon hadn't killed
again.

About the Author:
After 35 years of doing everything for a living except writing books, Donna McDonald finally published her first romance novel in March of 2011. Ten novels later, she is now living her own “happily ever after” life as a modestly successful author who gives back to the universe by doing her best to keep several Lexington, Kentucky coffee shops in business. McDonald dreams of selling her house and taking to the open road once she figures out how to do so without her children and grandchildren finding out. For the time being, she continues to live contentedly with her permanent fiancée of many years who helps her sneak away from real life as often as he can. She loves him dearly for it.
My Review:
I have read some other books by Donna, but this one was different. She created a world I never would have thought of. They seemed to be perfect mates until Malachi entered the group. Malachi is a demon that lives in the body of Ania. He was put there to save Ania's life. However he ends up killing, he is a demon after all. I thought that Liam had a hard choice, he didn't want his mate to die. He did the only thing he could. There is no turning back. I loved the world that was created, and I liked the idea of Liam being the master of Malachi, demons should not be free to kill. I also liked the dynamics between Liam and his exiled evil brother. I didn't like that the ending didn't really finish Liam and Ania's story. However I can not wait to read the next book in the series to find out more, and that is the point of s cliffhanger.
I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.
