    The best shower gift I ever gave was a diaper cake that I made. I loved making it and they really loved how it turned out.

    For my baby shower, I had my friend put on the invite that I was doing cloth and I had a cloth diaper registry. ONE person got me cloth diapers at my shower, and it was my mom! Everyone passed them around the room, oohing and ahing over them!

    The best wedding gift we received was our microwave. Lasted 12 years before we upgraded. It was awesome for a young couple who couldn't even boil water at the time :)

    When I had a baby shower for my second baby, my sister bought a real wood rocking chair and painted it white to match the nursery. At the shower she had a HUGE teddy bear with a BIG yellow bow sitting in it. I was so happy with the darling teddy bear, I didn't notice the chair it was in. I passed that chair down for my grandson.

    For wedding showers I give a laundry basket filled with misc things like toilet paper, band-aids, trash bags, hand soap. etc... This is helpful when they are moving in together for the first time.

    when I got married my aunt gave me a Betty Crocker cookbook. I didn't know a thing about cooking and my husband would have starved without that book. I still have it 29 yrs later :)

    I actually didn't end up having any baby showers for my 2; one thing or another. But right now, I am making a gift for a pregnant friend and I'm loving it. It is a quilted map (blanket) of their neighborhood with their house in the center marked with a heart.
