Private Practice by Samantha Beck!

Private Practice

He’ll teach her how to bring a man to his knees…

Dr. Ellie Swan has a plan: open her practice in tiny Bluelick, Kentucky, so she can keep an eye on her diabetic father, and make hometown golden-boy Roger Reynolds fall in love with her. But Ellie has a problem. Roger seeks a skilled, sexually adventurous partner, and bookish Ellie doesn’t qualify.

Tyler Longfoot only cares about three things: shaking his bad boy image, qualifying for the loan his company needs to rehab a piece of Bluelick’s history, and convincing Ellie to keep quiet about the “incident” that lands him on her doorstep at two a.m. with a bullet in his behind.

The adorable Dr. Swan drives a mean bargain, though. If sex-on-a-stick Tyler will teach Ellie how to bring a man to his knees, she’ll forget about the bullet. Armed with The Wild Woman’s Guide to Sex and Tyler’s lessons, Ellie is confident she can become what Roger needs…if she doesn’t fall for Tyler first.

Guest Post!
Erotica? Romantica? What the Heck Is “Private Practice”?!

Hello and thanks to Deal Sharing Aunt for hosting me today to talk about my debut novel, “Private Practice!” DSA posed two really interesting questions, namely, how close is “Private Practice” to erotica, and what makes the story different from other books of its kind?
I actually had to do some research to answer the first question. As I do whenever I need to know anything, I logged onto NYT and USA Today bestselling author Sylvia Day’s website. This time I checked out her definition of erotica, because I figured she’d know…and she did!
According to Ms. Day, erotica means, “Stories written about the sexual journey of the characters and how this impacts them as individuals. Emotion and character growth are important facets of a true erotic story. However, erotica is NOT designed to show the development of a romantic relationship, although it’s not prohibited if the author chooses to explore romance. Happily Ever Afters are NOT an intrinsic part of erotica.”
I’m not gonna sugar-coat things…“Private Practice” is steamy. It’s brought to you courtesy of Entangled Publishing’s Brazen line and their motto is “Unleash Your Inner Vixen”…so there you go. Dr. Ellie Swann’s goal in “Private Practice” is to turn herself into the kind of sexually adventurous, highly experienced woman she believes town golden boy Roger Reynolds seeks and she negotiates for lessons from local bad boy Tyler Longfoot. No argument Ellie envisions her journey with Tyler to be strictly sexual. She orders herself a how-to manual called “The Wild Woman’s Guide to Sex,” and works up a lesson plan. But Tyler’s got some visions of his own, and he’s not one to stick to the syllabus.
From the moment Tyler hijacks their first “lesson” and takes her out to dinner instead, he turns their relationship into a romance. A super-sexy one, for sure, because he is ready, willing and extremely able to deliver on every “Wild Woman” lesson she’s scheduled, and then some…with the possible exception of chapter 13! He’s not the mere teacher she bargained for and their relationship is more faceted than simple—or even advanced—sex.
I think “Private Practice” qualifies as an erotic romance, by Ms. Day’s definition. Ellie and Tyler’s romantic relationship begins with sexual interaction—well, technically, it begins with a jealous drunk’s bullet in Tyler’s ass—but the sex bargain is an inherent part of the story, character growth, and relationship development, and couldn’t be removed without damaging the storyline. And, I don’t want to ruin the book for you, but I don’t write stories where Happily Ever After is not intrinsic.
I aimed to deliver a funny, sweet, hot contemporary romance and I have to hold myself back from hugging anybody who says Tyler and Ellie made them laugh out loud, but as for the question, what makes “Private Practice” different from other stories of this kind? I’ll have to toss that one to the readers!

About Samanthe Beck
Sam was transfixed from an early age with any tale featuring a handsome prince, a great dress, and, of course, the all-important kiss, and eventually aspired to write her own happily-ever-afters. Naturally, she became a lawyer. The legal world heaved a sigh of relief a few years ago when Samanthe retired from law to take the plunge as a writer.
When not living the glamorous life of a romance author (i.e., chained to her computer), Samanthe keeps busy with the care and feeding of her extremely patient prince-charming of a husband, a not-so-patient ball of energy known as their son, a furry ninja named Kitty, and Bebe, the trash talkin’ Chihuahua. Their love, support, and willingness to eat Pizza Hut three or more times a week enables Samanthe to pursue her literary dreams.

My Review
This was a great read. It is erotica so adults only! This is the story about a woman who badly wants a certain  man, and the lengths that she goes through t get him in her bed. She even enlists the best bad boy she can find to teach her all he knows about sex.
There were also times that I was laughing at these 2 characters. From the beginning of the book when Tyler gets a bullet in his butt!
As Tyler's lessons progress, his heart becomes attached.
Ellie is a woman that knows what she wants, and is determined to get it. Even if it costs her her heart.
Can Tyler tame his wild ways and help Ellie realize how she really feels? Will Ellie realize that she has lost her heart before she ruins her own future with Tyler?
I really liked this story, and strong women characters are always fun to read about! Especially when they are with sexy men. The book was well written and for a debut novel this was wonderful. I liked the ending and can not wait for more by this author!
I am giving this book a 5/5 ! I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own!
