Book Description:

Recently released from a mental institution, Beth Gregory accepts a job as a live-in secretary/PA to the reclusive painter Josh Warrington. Beth's long red hair fascinates him from the first moment he sees her and Josh wants her to be his Rapunzel for a series of fairy tale paintings he's working on.

Beth has two major fears: that she will be sent back to the mental hospital and the visions which landed her there in the first place will return. They do; this time giving her glimpses of murders before they happen. Beth becomes the main suspect in the murder investigation and then she has the most disturbing vision of all: she will become the next victim...

About the Author:

Annette Gisby grew up in a small town in Northern Ireland, moving to London when she was seventeen. She writes in multiple genres and styles, anything from romance to thriller or erotica to horror, even both at the same time.

When not writing, she enjoys reading, cinema, theatre and travelling the world despite getting travel sick on most forms of transport., even a bicycle. Sometimes you might find her playing Dragon Quest or The Sims computer games and watching Japanese Anime. She lives in Hampshire with her husband, a collection of porcelain dolls, cuddly toys and enough books to fill a library. It's diminishing gradually since the advent of ebooks, but still has a long way to go.

Author Interview
1. Is this book part of a series?

No, this is a stand-alone story. I'm not sure there would be enough story
for it be a series.

2. Why Rapunzel instead of another one (Cinderella etc.)

Rapunzel was always one of my favourite fairy tales and the story was
inspired in part by a painting, La Belle Dame Sans Merci by Sir Frank
Dicksee. In that painting, the Queen of Faerie had long red hair, so
Rapunzel seemed the natural place to start the story from.

3. What are the visions like? Are they like Phoebe's from Charmed from
touching? Or does she see them in her sleep?

I have never seen Charmed, so I don't know what Phoebe's were like. In
Drowning Rapunzel Beth sees visions when she is near reflective surfaces
such as water, mirrors or glass.

4. Why were there no other paranormal people in he mental institution to
help her realize the truth?

There may well have been other paranormal people in the mental
institution, but while they were there, everyone was given drugs to calm
them down and help stop the hallucinations they were supposed to be
suffering from. Since everyone was supposedly crazy in there, even if
people had told Beth the truth, she wouldn't be sure whether to believe it
or not.

5. What would you like my readers to know?

I am a Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings fanatic. I've lost count how
many times I've read the books and watched the movies. In my study where I
do most of my writing, I have three Harry Potter posters and a Harry
Potter calendar on the wall. There are three Lord of the Rings posters yet
to be unpacked after our move but they'll probably go in here as well. My
husband, John, teases me about my crushes on 'Harry Potter', 'Legolas' and
'Frodo'!
My Review:
Beth was living with her aunt and all she wanted was her own place. She got a job as a secretary so she could save money. Little did she know he life was going to change. Her visions started to be too much and she got involved with the investigation.
Josh likes to be left alone to do his painting, however when Beth enters his life he is thrown into a whirlwind of love, deceit, and terror. The bodies are piling up, and Beth's days are numbered.
I never guessed who the killer was, I was not even close. The best part was the surprise witness. I really liked the ending and the truth always comes out. The characters were well written and the whole mental hospital plot was not what I expected. I loved the Rapunzel plot too. The long haired characters acted like they were princesses! I am giving this book a 5/5. I would love to see a series of princess detectives. I was given a copy for review, however all opinions are my own.
