Book Description:
Royden Napier, Baron Saint-Bryce, is tall, dark, and ruthless—and on the hunt for a dangerous beauty . . . On the eve of her escape to the Continent, bold, beautiful Lisette Colburne accepts a proposal she dare not refuse: masquerade as the future bride of the steely-eyed Royden Napier and help him solve his most dangerous case. Soon Lisette is in even greater danger—of losing her heart to the one man with the power to destroy her . .
Estranged from his aristocratic family, the enigmatic Napier has forged a reputation as Scotland Yard's most relentless police commissioner. He's vowed to bring Lisette to justice—but with every forbidden kiss and every tantalizing touch, he finds himself becoming less convinced of her guilt . . . and more certain he must have her. But when danger touches Lisette, can he save her?

My Review:
I have read some of Liz's books before (Devil You know etc), and I liked her writing style. So when this book came up, I had to read it. First of all, what a beautiful cover. What a dress. I would love to own that dress. The couch looks so comfy! Okay now that I am over the dress (not really lol), I can tell you how much I liked the book. Lisette was a great character, I wanted her to have a happy ending, but I also wanted to make her tell the truth at times. I loved the fake marriage, and the way Lisette "acted" like she loved Royden. Royden was also a funny character to follow. The author did a great job of writing his anguish into the book. At times I felt bad for him, but at other times I was mad at him and wanted to slap him silly. I could definitely understand his emotions and I felt like I was going through the roller coaster of emotions with him.
There was great character development and there was great description of the characters. I felt like I knew them by the time the book was over. The plot was fun to read and the end of the book was fulfilling. I would love to see more of the secondary characters. I definitely recommend this book to any romance readers! The only complaint that I have is the length of the book (417 pages), but I have a feeling that this is because of the format I read (small trade pb). I also think that every thing in the book was necessary, and to take anything out would hurt the story. I am giving this book a 4/5.
I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own!
I also was able to interview the author. Here are her answers:

1.       how did you pick the character names?
I try always to use period-appropriate names, so right away that limits your choices, especially for ladies.  With gentlemen, I sometimes turn to surnames, as I did in the case of Royden Napier.  And very often I use names from my own family.

2. why did you pick the era you did?
I chose it initially because it was a period I knew well, and I felt I would be less apt to make errors and anachronisms.  But I truly enjoy the entire 19th Century.  The politics, the music, the clothes.  And it was, in so many ways, a simpler time.
3.  why is Napier estranged from his family....is it his fault or theirs?
Entirely theirs.

4. why is the book so long?
Is it long?  I never noticed.

5. What would you like my readers to know?
Simply that if they chose to read the book, I hope they will enjoy it.
