When I first started reading this book, I felt an instant connection. I was the last of four siblings to get married. However once Joanna met her love, I thought that she was done with being a bridesmaid, and was finally going to be a bride. I was wrong. As in most Amish stories the Amish families are tightly knit. They do not leave their families behind, if they are needed. That is the case with Eben. Eben is the only male left at home to help his dad, because his brother left the Amish community to be with Englisher.
Joanna could leave to be with Eben, but she too has a secret. She writes stories that are more Englisher than Amish. This would be okay, because she writes in secret but her sister outs her and she is not in good enough terms to move away.
In this book Beverly Lewis comes home to Hickory Hollow. We meet new characters as well as old. The book is very interesting and even though one relationship may be mended, there are still a lot of relationships that need forgiveness. It was a definite page turner until the end. I did not know what was gonna happen until the end. I am looking forward to reading more about Hickory Hollow.
The book is well written and easy to follow.
I was given a copy by Bethany House to review, however all opinions are my own.
