Tristan Gareth Smyth lived his entire life stuck at home at Waverly Park and left behind while his Grandfather makes trips to London, all because of his blasted wheelchair. Then an American heiress falls in his lap, literally, and he must find a way to keep her at a distance to protect not only his secret, but everyone around him from an assassin sent to kill him.

Pauline Creeden

Pauline Creeden is a horse trainer from Virginia, but writing is her therapy. In her fiction, she creates worlds that are both familiar and strange, often pulling the veil between dimensions. She becomes the main character in each of her stories, and because she has ADD, she will get bored if she pretends to be one person for too long.

Interview:
Why did you decide to become a writer?
My father used to tell the story of how I would read the newspaper and discuss it with him by the time I was seven. Whether that is a true story or not, I don’t know, but he was telling that one since I was a teenager. Regardless, I was an avid reader virtually out of the womb, and devoured everything that caught my interest.

When I was about nine, my father bought a typewriter for Christmas, because that was what I wanted. In elementary school I remember taking an aptitude test, and arranging my answers so that it would turn out that I should become a writer. Even though I majored in Creative Writing in college, I didn’t complete my first novel until 2011.

What are your favorite genres to read?

Dystopian, Urban Fantasy, Dark Fantasy, Thriller/Suspense, Young Adult. I love genre mix ups, and don’t tend like anything that is strictly one genre, like hard sci-fi, straight up romance, or high fantasy. That’s probably why my stories are hard to pin down. They are quite mixed up. J

Favorite writing food / snack?

I don’t tend to eat while I write, but I do drink Snapple teas. I love them so much that they are like a reward that I only allow myself while I’m writing or editing.

What do you hope readers take away most from your writing?

I tend to write fairly dark, somewhat creepy stories full of suspense and life threatening situations. At the same time, I tend to add inspiration to them. There is darkness, but there is also hope.
