INTERVIEW With Theresa Troutman

1.  What books have most influenced your life most?
Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh. I read this books when I was sixteen years old. It made me fall in love with all things English and inspired me to be a writer. This books was the impetus for The Loves Great Adventure Series. I named the main character Sebastian as a tip of hat to Mr. Waugh.

The Harry Potter Series by J.K.Rowling. All books books share the theme of friendship and loyal. For me this is the cornerstone theme of the HP series. Ms. Rowling takes us on such a amazing, epic journey in these books and still manages to give the book a heart. Ultimately these books are about love.

2.  If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
J.K. Rowling. To be able to write something so epic and make each character three-dimensional amazes me. She is multi-talented, able to write, suspense, horror, romance, and satire

3.  What book are you reading now?
The Ties That Bind by JM Miller

4.  Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Melyssa Winchester (You must read Count on Me) Ryan Ringbloom (The Fast Series) and JM Miller.

5.  What are your current projects?
I am currently writing London Loves, book 3 in the Loves Great            Adventure Series due to release September 2014.
After I finish up the series Ill either start an adult comtempory           romance or a YA romance. Two great ideas in my head and not sure           which one will win out.
6.  Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
Melyssa Wincherster. Even though we don’t live in the same country, my fellow author Melyssa has been amazing! She is my beta reader, graphics designer and dear friend, who is always there for me when I need to talk.

7.  What would you like my readers to know?
I am so grateful for the outpouring of support and love I’ve received on journey into indie publishing from both fellow authors and readers. I love to connect with my readers. They can just make my day with a kind word or their enthusiasm for one of my books. You can always connect with me on my website or goodreads!

Guest Post

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Theresa Troutman and The Love’s Great Adventure Series.

To celebrate the release of book two - Love This Life, I wanted to share some little know insider info with you and your readers.

1.  The playlist consists of songs from the 1980s, the period that the story takes place. The playlist is an alternative way to telling the story and the lyrics parallel what is happening is Sebastians life. Older readers will recognize these songs, but I hope to introduce younger readers to music of that decade.
2.  Lifes What You Make It was originally called: Nanny, Charles and Me. It was told from Tess Hamiltons point of view. I switched to Sebastian Irons point of view because he is such a flawed character and I wanted to take the reader of his journey to redemption.
3.  The book Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh inspired me to start writing this book back in 1984. As the years progressed, Downton Abbey and Gossip Girl are other shows that are similar in genre. If youre a fan of these shows, I think youll enjoy Lifes What You Make It.
4.  I kept the time period for Lifes What You Make It in the 1980s. Why? Life was so much simplerno internet or cell phones. It was easier to go undetected back then. Now everybody know what youre doing thanks to social media. Also, it wasnt uncommon for high school sweethearts to get married.
5. Sebastian Irons died in the first draft of the book.
6. When beta readers finished the first book, many of they said, Do they get married? This inspired me to write Love This Life. I fell in love with Sebastian and Tess and had so much fun writing them, I didnt want to let them go. The final book in the series is called London Loves and will take place five years after Love This Life. Im currently writing it and looking to release in September 2014.
7. Im an avid traveler and have traveled to Australia seven times in the past twenty-five years. Thats the equivalent of being on an airplane for two weeks straight!
8. I was married when I was nineteen years old and Im still with the same guy!  We dont have any children. (Does a crazy dog count?)
9. When I was young, I wanted to be a film director. Guess I like telling people what to do, so being a writer suits me perfectly.

10. I owned my own cafe and photo gallery in the 1990s in a town called Intercourse, PA. (It is a real town in Amish country right between Bird and Hand and Blue Ball - really dont know what inspired the Amish to name their towns!)
