Personal Transformation From The Inside Out by Ann Vanino Interview, Excerpt & Giveaway

Personal Transformation From The Inside Out
by Ann Vanino

GENRE: Personal Growth

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
We are living in a time of transformation. Old ways are fading. New ways are emerging. There is an increasing focus within. Many of us are feeling a desire to create a new direction for our lives.
Chrysalis: Personal Transformation From The Inside Out uses nature’s process of Chrysalis- a caterpillar transforming to a butterfly – as a guide for our own personal transformation. Each stage of Chrysalis provides a jumping-off point, upon which to reflect about our own experiences as we each transform.
Excerpt One:
Chapter Three
Growth and Struggle
Starting With Yourself
In your own Chrysalis, you start from where you are, developed and conditioned by the outside world. Who would think a caterpillar’s tissues would create a butterfly?  It is a beginning for you, different from anything that has gone before.
---
Great Destruction Brings Rebirth
There are other examples in nature of great destruction bringing rebirth—volcanoes pushing rich new soil to the surface, small earthquakes releasing pressure on a fault line and weathering and erosion creating new land forms.
In your Chrysalis, effort is well spent in balancing the destructive and creative forces occurring in your life. It is a time of some chaos. Your point of gravity is shaken, and stability is not yet regained. Enduring your Chrysalis involves maintaining balance between creation and destruction through discipline and developing habits that support you through this time. As parts of your life crumble, you may need more nurturing. As the new enters your life, you may need to give yourself some time to acclimate.
As you endure creation and destruction or face uncertainty in your life, know that rebirth awaits you.
---
Why Change?
Wasn’t the caterpillar beautiful enough?
Yes, it was.
Its new opportunity, as a butterfly,
Lies in its wings—to fly.
---
Try this:
Think of a time in your life when you were scared, but you kept going.
What gave you the strength and courage to proceed? (You can use that again.)
What would have happened if you did not proceed?
How would your life be now?
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Ann is an author and coach dedicated to collaborating with her
clients and readers as they create fulfilling lives and bring their
unique gifts to the world.
Where are you from?
I was born in Manhattan, New York City. We lived right near the East River in an apartment complex called Stuyvesant Town. It was a great place with lots of playgrounds off the street and lots of families with children. I went to Nursery School in a small park under (yes, under!) the FDR elevated highway that runs along the river. I was a city kid, through and through. By the time I was 7 years old, my parents had three children and we all lived in a one-bedroom apartment. We moved to Staten Island across the bay which then was “the country”. We moved into a seven-bedroom house and didn’t know what to do with all the room! It was great to have trees and quiet and we still had lots of kids to play with. And we were just a ferry ride from Manhattan.
Interview:
Tell us your latest news?
My latest news! I have finished a new book, Kaleidoscope: Flying Together In Earth’s New Energy. It is a leap forward for me into writing more abstractly about energy and how our world is changing. I am excited to bring it out in the world.
I am now forming a new Career Circle. My career circles are groups of five people who work with me together for 3 months, doing weekly calls, with the intention of making a major step forward in their careers. http://annvanino.com/coaching/career-coaching/.
When and why did you begin writing?
A few years after I became a coach, we moved to a small town in the desert. A local newspaper interviewed me, as they do all new businesses that come to the area, and at the end of the interview the Editor of the paper asked if I would write a weekly column on Coaching. I said yes and was very fortunate to have her edit my work and teach me the trade of writing for a newspaper. I went on to write business profile articles for the paper, as well.
That got my writing started and, in 2005, I wrote a book, Leadership On Trial: Lessons from The Apprentice about the first season of Donald Trump’s reality show. Little did I know then what he would be doing this year!
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
When I wrote for the newspaper, I was asked to join a local writer’s group and they considered me a published writer. I guess I was! It still took me awhile to introduce myself as a writer, but now I am very comfortable describing myself as one.
When I was growing up, I thought it would be so glamorous to be a writer. But, I did not consider myself creative or see that as a possibility. Many of my friends were and are creative. It is funny how we can block out our dreams as not possible. I am fortunate to be living mine now.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I had started a book about power at work and was sending a proposal out to agents. When I viewed The Apprentice on TV I thought there were many valuable lessons on leadership provided by the show that could help people in their careers. However, I wasn’t sure if the people watching the show were my audience for a book. One weekend, I went to northern California to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The Sunday morning after the party I went to brunch with some people and mentioned I was considering writing the book. All of them were watching the show and encouraged me to write it. They were my audience and were very engaged in the first season of the show!
What would you like my readers to know?
I want your readers to know that they can live the lives they want to live. Change is possible and their dreams can be realized. Here is my message to them:
You are a treasure and have gifts to give the world that are uniquely your own. As you “awaken” to what you really want and who you really are, your life can change in marvelous ways. Awakening asks for your courage, strength and commitment and returns to you happiness, fulfillment and adventure.
  3. Welcome, Joseph. I read Ta Nehisi Coates' Between The World and Me. It is a nonfiction, serious book. I liked it because it deepened and shifted my perspective. A fiction book I enjoyed was John Grisham's Gray Mountain.
  29. First, thank you for offering "Chrysalis" as a free e-book. I've got it tucked away in my brand new, very first tablet/e-reader, and am very much looking forward to reading it. I am certain that there will be much for me to take from its pages. After reading through this blog post again, I'm tempted/inspired to open it now.
    ...There is so, so much that I could write. I'm known for writing quite a lot in general, but here I just... I need so much help. I need so much more than help; there isn't even a word. "Radical career and life transformation" doesn't seem to cover even part of it. "Miracles"-- perhaps. I need... I don't know. I can't even begin with my personal story, but suffice to say that it is... again; words. No one seems to know what to say.
    I'm going to step back from this. Fresh air. Stretch wings; fly.
    Some day. Some day; we'll see. I hope so.
    Thank you,
    A.
