Bewitching Boots

…it really feels as if you are there with the characters.
~Booklady’s Booknotes
I think I would really love to visit the Renaissance Village, it sounds like a very intriguing and interesting place…The writing, as always with Jim and Joyce, was excellent and made this a very easy read.

Interview

Where are you from?
I was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. Moved to Chicago. Then to Minnesota and then to North Carolina. I’m not really sure where I’m from anymore.

Tell us your latest news?
I have a new mystery series starting in December, Spell Booked. I’ve written eight books this year.

When and why did you begin writing?
I started writing novels when I was 14. I had written poetry since I was about nine. I don’t know why I started. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t write. It just got more organized and bigger as I went along.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I thought I was a writer when I was nine. Being an author is so different than being a writer. A lot more work.

What inspired you to write your first book?
I wrote my first novel because I read War and Peace and I thought I could do a better job.

Do you have a specific writing style?
Not one that I can tell.

How did you come up with the title?
Bewitching Boots is the name of the boot shop in Renaissance Faire Village where the man who claims to have elf magic makes his boots and sandals.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Yes! Have fun. Believe in something besides science and math. Live in other worlds.

What would you like my readers to know?
I think writers write about magic to explain the real magic in the world. We want people to know that there is magic, and that they should look for it in their lives.

  5. Interesting twist adding a possible supernatural twist in this book. Actually, now that I think about it aren't there monks that may have a little supernatural ability?
