Were-lynx Kennedy's world implodes when she's sent to a facility for illegal and torturous experimentation. Only after she's rescued does she learn she's been living a lie for 22 years. She can count on nothing from her past - not her parents, her surname, or her safety. Only the brother she didn't know and his colony of were-lynxes offer any semblance of stability. Suspicious of everyone and unsure of her path forward, Kennedy reluctantly starts to realize that charming were-bobcat Asher Monroe might be her only hope.

Sportswriter Asher has been trying desperately to ferret out the truth behind why the sinister Nexus Group has been kidnapping and experimenting on were-cats. But he's also willing to use his special mind-controlling ability to discover whether the gorgeous Kennedy is a threat to the colony or simply a lost soul.

As their need for the truth takes them into escalating danger, they discover explosive secrets that could bring Kennedy and Asher together - or rip them apart forever.

Bubbly were-lynx Tizzy Sands mapped out her life years ago: she'd teach kindergartners, eventually marry, and start a family. But when cancer stole her dream of having children, her focus changed. As a member of a were-lynx colony that faces constant danger from the nefarious Nexus Group, her goal now is helping the colony defeat them--and steering clear of any romantic involvements.
With his genius IQ, Quinn Arons isn't the most socially skilled were-lynx in the colony and can't imagine party girl Tizzy would give him a second look. But although his past mistakes and childhood experiences haunt him, he can't accept Tizzy's fear that cancer will return and claim her life soon. Instead, he decides to show her that life is what you make it.

Now they're working as partners to prevent Nexus from launching its Project Powering, but can Quinn convince Tizzy there's more to save here than just their world?

A formidable were-lynx and a physician, Booker has his hands full helping patients who were seriously injured in the battle. But nothing can repair his soul, broken from the loss of his wife and the PTSD from his service in Afghanistan . . . or can it? Now that his good friend Lara is standing by him in his emotional struggles, he's finding there is more to their connection than he realized. But dare he open his heart?

In the epic conclusion of the Fierce Hearts series, the colony takes its biggest risk of all to shut down the Nexus Group forever - will Lara and Booker survive to take their second chance at love?

Interview
Where are you from? I’m originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan. I now live in Indianapolis, after a long stretch of living in Central Illinois. Michigan will always be home. But I’m loving Indianapolis.
Tell us your latest news? Fierce Hearts, The Complete Collection that features all the books in my were-lynx series, released May 30.
When and why did you begin writing? I have been writing a variety of ways for more than 20 years. As a kid, I was a storyteller. I wrote my first play when I was 12. Life took me in a different direction but I made my way back to writing and when I did, something inside me knew it was right.
When did you first consider yourself a writer? Probably with my first sale. I wrote a short story that was published by a small magazine. For me, that sale made me official.
What inspired you to write your first book? Maybe it was serendipity. I wasn’t happy with the work I’d been doing and I was always searching for my “passion.” I read about an author who resided in the area I was living and her story hit home for me. So in a sense, that writer, who I never knew, inspired the first idea of writing a book.
Do you have a specific writing style? I believe I’m still developing my style because I will always be learning new things. But, I like to write from a deep perspective, putting characters into situations that can nearly kill them but can also liberate them. In real life I’m very interested in what people think and why. In writing, I want to explore what characters are going through internally and physically. The stories we carry inside us of our past inform our present lives. Those stories can shape us, stunt us, or urge us to press on to become our best selves.
How did you come up with the title? Each book in the Fierce Hearts series features the stories of a were-lynx colony. The backdrop to their daily lives living among humans is battling with a nefarious group of individuals who are trying to destroy the colony and the world as it is. The title for each individual book addresses the emotional unmet needs of the hero and heroine. Fierce Hearts was a fitting series title because the characters are were-lynx with fierce capabilities. They need fierce hearts to survive.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? If readers find a meaningful message in the series, I would be happy. I’ve learned a lot of very useful and unexpected things from reading romance novels. My intention with the books was to explore different ways of being in family and what that can look like when it’s healthy, no matter what shape it takes.
How much of the book is realistic? Oh, wow! Stellar question. Just because the books are paranormal romances doesn’t mean they’re all fantasy. That was an aspect I really enjoyed in writing the stories – that these supernatural characters faced common human problems, such as self-doubt, grief, shame, and prejudice. In Secrets, the characters are hiding things and are therefore lonely. In Cravings, abuse and rejection have to be processed by the characters. In Heartfelt, alcoholism and sense of worthlessness is up for healing. In Probabilities, social awkwardness and cancer are challenges to face. In Unstoppable, molestation and PTSD are a concern for the characters. These elements of the stories are based in real life.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life? Yes, plot elements and characters were influenced by people and situations that have touched my life.
What books have most influenced your life most? I can’t remember a time I wasn’t read to or didn’t read. Influences from books stretch back to fairy tales. I used to read only self-help or books about topics. Those books were helpful. When I started reading romances, it was like taking a course in human development and human relations. I picked up such great stuff from many, many books, but if I try to answer your question, I would have to say Personal Demon by Kelley Armstrong. However, the book that set me on my writer path was On Becoming a Novelist by John Gardner.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor? That would be a tough pick, too. One of my early editors when I wrote for newspapers was a great writer and great teacher. Most recently, Jennifer Lawler is like a mentor to me, but she doesn’t know that.
What book are you reading now? I am in the midst of three books: Jennifer Lawler’s DoJo Wisdom for Writers, Changes by Jim Butcher, and Forsaken by Kelley Armstrong.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Crimson Romance authors are diverse and talented, so I’m interested in their books.
What are your current projects? I’m finishing up a short story to post for free on my website. It’s loosely connected to the Fierce Hearts stories. I’m in the research collection phase of the project about a bounty hunter who can pick up information from objects. I’m planning for her to be a highly evolved person born on Earth to help balance the planet. But even being highly evolved, she carries deep sorrow. I’m very excited about this project.

What would you like my readers to know? I put a lot of heart and hard work into writing books I hope will leave an impact on readers’ lives in some way. I hope it is discernible on the pages of my books. I believe in the power of words to uplift and inspire, and I would like my writing to deliver that experience.
